Lace up those hiking boots and join us on Sunday 29th September for an unforgettable adventure! Together we will climb the highest mountain in the magical Mourne Mountains and conquer the highest peak in all of Ulster, Slieve Donard.

What you need to know

When: Sunday 29th September 2024

What: 10km hike, with 840 metre climb

Duration: Approximately 5 hours

Meeting Point & Time: 9am in Slieve Donard Car Park, then coach to Bloody Bridge

Registration: £25

Fundraising Pledge: £120

Our fully guided hike will start at the Bloody Bridge and we will use this eastern side of the mountain to make our way up to the summit then down the opposite northern side of the mountain through the Glen River route, making this a round-trip loop walk of Slieve Donard. This beautiful route is normally much quieter and brings views over the eastern coastline and the Irish Sea on our climb. On our way down the opposite side of the mountain, we are treated to breathtaking views of Newcastle and the northern landscape. The day will see you walk 10 km (about 6.21 mi) and climb 840 meters (about 2755.91 ft) over approximately a 5-hour period. The route is mostly on good quality hardcore trails with some forest sections and some step ground as we make our final summit push.

While you meander through Co Down’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you’ll be raising much needed funds for Cruse to help us support more bereaved people in Northern Ireland. Each participant will receive a Cruse t-shirt and goodie bag. Refreshments and snacks will be provided at the end of the hike.
